MCEC is located on the banks of the iconic Yarra River in South Wharf. Plenary is easily found within the Convention Centre, accessed via Convention Centre Place or a short walk down the Exhibition Centre Concourse from the Clarendon Street entrance.

GETTING TO MELBOURNE

Melbourne's main airport at Tullamarine is located 23kms from the CBD with the journey taking from 20 to 35 minutes depending on traffic.

SkyBus is the main airport shuttle to and from Melbourne Airport and the city. It leaves from two locations directly outside the terminals and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. SkyBus travels directly to and from Southern Cross Station and leaves every ten minutes for most of the day. Travel times to Southern Cross Station range from 20 - 35 minutes.

Tickets are $19 one way/$38 return for adults and up to four children can travel free.

Travelling by public transport
BY TRAM
Catch any of the following trams and exit at the stop opposite the Clarendon Street entrance of MCEC:
Route 96 – St Kilda to East Brunswick
Route 109 – Port Melbourne to Box Hill
Route 12 – Victoria Gardens to St Kilda
BY TRAIN
Take any train that goes to Southern Cross Station. Exit at Southern Cross Station and catch tram number 96, 109 or 12 as above. For further train timetable information and trip planning, visit the Victorian Public Transport website here.
BY BUS
The SkyBus transports visitors directly from Melbourne Airport to Southern Cross train station.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

The official language of the Symposium is English and all presentations will be made in English.

CLIMATE

The weather in Melbourne in March should be pleasant. April is a transitional month between summer and autumn. Daily high temperatures range from 22°c to 24°c. HOTEL ACCOMMODATION 

Kenes International is the official agent for the 11th International Symposium on Pneumococci and Pneumococcal Disease in Melbourne, and will be offering special reduced rates for accommodation. More information regarding hotel accommodation will be available on the Hotel page.

VISA INFORMATION

All travelers to Australia, other than Australian and New Zealand citizens, are required to obtain a visa. The business visa allows those attending conferences and meetings in Australia to make a short visit of up to three months. Australia's electronic travel authority (ETA) is an advanced and streamlined travel authorization system. If the country your passport represents has ETA business access, it enables visitors to Australia to obtain authority to enter at the same time as they book their travel arrangements. The Congress Secretariat and Organizers cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of/damage to the private property of participants and accompanying persons. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.

GUEST ATTENDANCE PO​​LICY

All event activities (including educational sessions, meal functions, exhibit hall, etc.) are exclusively reserved for registered attendees. Non-registered guests (including children, family members, colleagues, etc.) are not allowed in any of the event areas. Badges provided at registration are required for entrance into all functions and will be strictly enforced.
